Jim's Recovery
Jim had ACL Reconstruction Surgery & meniscus repair last week. He is recovering pretty well. He went to the doctor on Monday and had the bandages and wraps removed. The surgeon was very pleased with Jim's progress. He has cannot bare any weight on his leg, but started in the "motion machine" the day he got home from surgery. He is required to be on the machine 6+ hours per day. Jim will increase by 5 degrees each day until his range of motion is 120 degrees. He is up to 90 degrees today and is weaning himself off the Percocet. Technology these days....the house is full of knee braces and immobilizers (depending on what he's doing), the continuous passive motion machine, and a PolarCare Unit. I don't even have to get him ice packs!! The PolarCare Unit has a cooler that pumps ice water through a hose to a pad that is over his bandages. He will begin physical therapy 3x/week. Here are some pictures of his incision & bruises a week out and the machine. (Please ignore the bed that isn't made!)
