The first week, Addison had severe jaundice. We had home visits from the nurses at Children's Hosptial, daily blood tests, and she had to be hooked up to the bili-blanket 22 hours/day. Her biliruben level peaked at 17 (they warn of neurological problems & seizures at a 20). During this time, Addison's weight dropped to six pounds, six ounces. Fortunately the light therapy was successful and Addison is healthy.
Her second week at home, our little joy continued to prove that she "rules the roost". Addison had her days and nights mixed up. Although she was content, she kept us up quite a bit. Fortunately this week went much better! Addison surprised us one night and even slept 6 hours straight before waking up for a feeding. At her 3 week weight check, she was up to 8 pounds 4 ounces.
This week was a fun one--Addison went trick-or-treating at Grandma Marty & Grandpa Ron's with her big cousins. Kaitlyn was a cowgirl, Tyler a monkey, and Addison a caterpillar. We came home and Addison helped hand out candy to the neighborhood kids and mommy's students. "Nana Pat" is coming to town this weekend! Addison can't wait to meet the lady she's heard so many stories about! On Sunday we are taking Addison on her first road trip and will venture up to the farm in Fredericktown to meet the Browns. Next weekend we are going to Evansville to see the Robinsons and Wilsbachers.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers, phone calls, cards, and e-mails. We are so fortunate and appreciate the thoughtfulness of our friends and family. We will try to update more often. Here are some four week pictures.
